The Mountains to the Sea Bicycle Tour

This is a self guided tour. Bicycle Route #2 Starts in Murphy, NC and progress towards the Cherokee Indian Reservation before going on to the Blue Ridge Parkway. After riding to the Lynville Falls area, you now exit the Blue Ridge Parkway at Jonas Ridge on to NC 181 and start down to the lowlands of North Carolina with your ultimate goal of reaching The Outer Banks of North Carolina. Total length of this tour is approx. 736 miles The maps are set up for the most part to be one day rides thus with 16 maps it will take you 16 or more days to make this trip, depending on how many side trips you make off of the official route. Beginners must plan for at least 30 days for this trip as the climbing in the west end is moderate to difficult. Long slow climbs are the norm. These and other route maps are available from the NC DOT - bicycle division and are really a must if you plan to make any of the 20 or so different trips available through out the state of North Carolina. All of these routes are in paper format to be carried with you while you are riding these routes are available from the NC DOT. The Southern Highlands
Bicycle Tour - NC Route #8 118 mile tour |

This is a self guided tour. Bicycle Route #8 passes through Tryon. This route starts on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Wagon Wheel Gap and makes it way to Lincolnton, North Carolina, where it joins up with the Mountains to the Sea Route. Route #8 is a trip of 118 miles in length whereas The Mountains to the Sea route is about 736 miles! A great 3 or so day tour but could be ridden in one day by a experienced rider with SAG Support along the way..
