Special Events Station.

Harmon Field has been a unique and historic recreational center in the Tryon Township since 1927, when funds were received from the Harmon Foundation to establish a recreational facility in Polk County, North Carolina.

Annual events at Harmon Field include the Blue Ridge BBQ Festival (June); Friendship Club (June); Fabulous Fourth Bicycle Tour (July); Harmon Field Appreciation Month (October); Tour de Leaves Bicycle Tour (October).

On any given day throughout the year, you might enjoy horse shows, dog shows; baseball, tennis, soccer, and other sports; birthdays and family reunions; along with beautifully laid out walking paths and seasonal garden areas.

When visiting Polk County, North Carolina, nestled in the shade of the Blue Ridge Mountains, please be sure to spend some time in the lovely setting of Harmon Field.


PURPOSE:

To foster an interest in Amateur Radio. To increase awareness of the Thermal Belt Amateur Radio Club in the community, showing its involvement with local emergency activities, as well as community events.

AGE:

Any age interested in learning more about Amateur Radio and desiring to attempt some radio contacts.

SUGGESTED EXCHANGE:

General Call is “CQ, CQ, Horsin' Round Harmon Field.”   Exchange will be person's call sign, name, and location.

DATE AND TIME:

Date: October 13 and 14, 2007
Time: 1700 to 2300

FREQUENCIES:

Contacts will be made on the following frequencies: 7.260, 14.260; as well as local 2-meter repeater frequencies. A station may be contacted more than once on each band, provided there is a new "third person" to communicate with the other station. Please abide by third-party regulations for exchanges.

REPORTING:

Logs to include Date, UTC, Frequency, Contact Call Sign, and Location of Contact.  Logs and comments may be sent to the Thermal Belt Amateur Radio Club at: k4rkm@arrl.net via email ~ preferred in PDF format.

Those without Internet access may forward their log and comments to Thermal Belt Amateur Radio Club, P.O. Box 310, Tryon, NC 28782. 

Logs must be received no later than two weeks from the date of event in order to receive a QSL card  commemorating the event.

AWARDS:

All participants are eligible to receive an attractive QSL Card.
