The day started off with thunder and heavy rain.  About 30 minutes into the
Assault, the rain quit and the sky cleared off.  This prevailed till about 3:00 PM when
on top of Mount Mitchell the bottom fell out with both thunder and heavy rain.
The rain continued with thick fog rolling in making visibility almost impossible
and unless you had a blinker light flashing you could not be seen.

All pictures were taken between rain showers
and sun from 5:00 pm on from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
